Emergency Dental Care

Most patients with dental emergencies can be seen on the same day.

Bridge

A bridge is a series of dental crowns fabricated together into one piece. It is made of porcelain or porcelain fused to metal and replaces a missing tooth or teeth. A bridge requires support on both sides by either healthy teeth or implants. The procedure requires two to three visits.

Crowns

Dental crowns are utilized to restore a tooth to proper form and function when a filling can no longer do so. Oftentimes, a tooth may break, crack, or decay to the point where it becomes too weak to support traditional fillings. When this occurs, a dental crown can be fabricated to cover the entire portion of tooth above the gum line. This protects the tooth from further damage. Additionally, crowns can be used in a series either to bridge a gap where a tooth is missing or to cover dental implants.

Dentures

Complete dentures are designed to replace all missing teeth in an upper or lower arch. They can be fabricated in an edentulous mouth or a mouth with existing teeth. In patients with existing teeth, extractions of remaining teeth are done the day the denture is delivered. Multiple appointments are scheduled to ensure a proper fit and alignment before the final denture is completed.

Fluoride

Bacteria inflict damage to teeth by eroding the enamel. Fluoride can restore minerals to tooth surfaces where damage has occurred. Likewise, fluoride can inhibit the growth of the harmful bacteria that causes cavities. The American Dental Association maintains that children exposed to fluoride are twenty-five percent less likely to develop cavities.

Nitrous Oxide

Dental appointments cause some people to experience a high level of anxiety. For dental treatments, we can provide nitrous oxide to reduce apprehensions and help you relax. This is a safe procedure as the effects of the gas wear off within minutes with virtually no side effects.

Porcelain Veneers

If you have teeth that are chipped, uneven, worn down, stained, or gapped, our dentist can improve your smile by creating custom veneers. Thin, tooth colored porcelain veneers cover the front aspects of your teeth. Veneers can enhance the color, shape, size, and texture of your teeth. Dr. LaBombard’s skill and experience set him apart from other dentists performing this coveted cosmetic procedure.

Typically, you will need two dental appointments to complete the procedure. At the first appointment, any decay in your tooth will be removed, and the dentist will prepare your tooth to support a crown. The dentist will take an impression and a temporary crown will be placed. Approximately two to three weeks later, at the second appointment, the doctor will cement your permanent crown, which may be fabricated in either porcelain or gold.

Removable Partial Dentures

Removable partial dentures are a good choice for patients who are missing several teeth but still have some remaining healthy teeth. The removable partial denture is designed with a metal framework that clasps around existing teeth and provides strength for chewing. One partial denture can replace all missing teeth in the upper or lower arch.

Cracked and Fractured Teeth

There are several types of cracks or fractures that occur in teeth. Many people have tiny cracks or lines, called craze lines, that affect only the outer layer of enamel. These are usually asymptomatic and do not require treatment. Some cracks run deeper and can cause teeth to become sensitive to temperature or chewing. Oftentimes, these cracks require treatment. A fracture occurs when a portion of tooth has broken away from the existing tooth structure. Fractures usually occur in the coronal portion (above the gum line) of your tooth. Therefore, fractures require a crown to cover, protect, and replace the tooth structure. Untreated cracks or fractures that extend down the root surface usually necessitate an extraction.

Internal Bleaching

Internal bleaching is performed on teeth that have existing root canals to reduce tooth darkening or discoloration. The dentist will deposit bleach inside the coronal aspect of the tooth. This procedure may be repeated multiple times to achieve the desired color.

Root Canals

A root canal is a procedure to remove the tissue (nerve and blood vessels) within the canal of a tooth. When the tissue inside of a tooth becomes infected or irreversibly inflamed the only two options for treatment are either a root canal or an extraction. The dentist will use special equipment to scrape out the pulp, disinfect the canal, and seal it with a rubber plug. Some teeth have extensive or multiple canal systems.

Professional Prophylaxis/Hygiene/Cleaning

Dental health is an important indicator of overall health. Patients are encouraged to visit the dentist at least twice a year for professional cleanings and receive check-ups to avoid any potential problems. Our hygienists are skilled at eliminating plaque and excessive tartar build-up that cannot be removed with daily brushing and flossing. A professional cleaning helps prevent gingivitis, reduce cavities, control bad breath, and diminish the acquisition of periodontal disease. Diabetics, who have an even greater risk of oral health problems, should be particularly vigilant in maintaining these cleanings.

Many everyday habits, such as coffee, tea, smoking, and tobacco, cause staining of the teeth. Additionally, over time the enamel thins, leading to a yellow or darkening appearance of the teeth. Our teeth whitening system can help restore teeth to a brilliant white shade.

Night Guards/Bite Splint

A condition called bruxism occurs when a person grinds their teeth during sleep. Grinding destroys the teeth’s enamel and often leads to jaw pain, facial pain, tooth pain, and headaches. The dentist can custom fit a nightguard or bite splint to control the effects of teeth grinding. The nightguard acts as a barrier between the teeth on the upper and lower jaw. Professional night guards provide a more secure fit and are more effective and comfortable than those sold over the counter.

When the dentist inspects your oral cavity for bone loss, tartar buildup, excessive bleeding, or loss of attachment between bone and the roots of your teeth, he may establish that you have periodontal disease. When this occurs, he will order scaling and root planning to remove bacteria and tartar below the gum tissue. This often requires multiple appointments. The risk of getting periodontal disease is increased in smokers.

Sealants

Sealants are a liquid material that is bonded to the tooth. This can diminish the chances of acquiring cavities by creating a barrier on the grooves of the biting portions of posterior teeth. Sealants may be beneficial in reducing the detrimental effects from food and bacteria that might be missed by flossing and brushing alone.

Extractions

The goal of all treatment in our dental office is to conserve as many teeth as possible. However, sometimes teeth may become too badly decayed, infected, or broken to the point that they necessitate an extraction. Our dentist is skilled in all types of extractions, including impacted third molars. There are several options available to replace a missing tooth after an extraction, including a dental bridge or a dental implant.

Insurance

Dental insurance can be very confusing. Many patients are unsure about their dental coverage. We accept most insurances. We will do our best to help you through the process. Please bring a copy of your insurance card to your appointment. We look forward to helping you.
